Alveo U280

In the last blog post, we discussed Accolade FPGA IP on the Alveo U50 accelerator card. Of the five cards that Xilinx currently offers the U50 is on the lower end although perfectly adequate for a large percentage of applications. On the opposite end of the scale is the Alveo U280 which is the most powerful card Xilinx offers.

The U280 is designed for high-performance, adaptable acceleration for memory-bound, compute intensive applications including database, analytics, and machine learning inference. It is a dual slot (takes up two PCIe slots), full height, full width card with a large amount of onboard memory and consumes a hefty 225 watts of power. This card is only for the most demanding applications but if your
application needs the performance it is there to spare.

All Accolade FPGA IP is available on the U280, but given its performance characteristics specialized or customer specific IP can also be developed by Accolade engineers to meet a specific requirement or function.
