In recent blog posts we have been detailing Accolade FPGA IP on Xilinx Alveo Accelerator Cards. Thus far we have discussed the features, applications, and capabilities that Accolade can enable right away on these Xilinx adapters. But which adapters are we talking about? Xilinx currently offers five different flavors of the Alveo card ranging from the low-end U25 all the way up to the high capacity U280. Although we can deploy Accolade FPGA IP on any of these cards, we have initially chosen to deploy on the U50 and U280 because we believe these best fit our customer’s needs right now.
The Alveo U50 is a very capable adapter that is optimized for workloads in financial computing, machine learning, computational storage, and data search and analytics. It is a low-profile (half-height, half-length, single slot) adapter with low power consumption of around 75 watts. It is ideal for applications that are deployed on small to medium size appliances that can benefit from CPU offload.
