ATLAS-2000 Service Node
This past week we launched the ATLAS-2000 Service Node (ASN). This product is the big brother to the ATLAS-1100 Service Node which was launched earlier this year. ATLAS-2000 is a 1U, half-width appliance that can perform a variety of valued-added functions such as RegEx matching, black/white lists for security and NetFlow export. The functions are all courtesy of the FPGA-based intellectual property developed by Accolade Technology. These same features are available on the ANIC line of SmartNICs as well as Xilinx Alveo.
The ATLAS-2000 is designed primarily to augment the feature capability of a network packet broker. For example, it could be used to search for a specific string pattern (exact string match). In this configuration it serves as a “one-armed” assistant to the packet broker in that traffic is forwarded to the ASN; the string search is performed; and the resultant traffic is sent back to the packet broker for further distribution.
The product can also be used in-line where it sits in the traffic path and performs functions as live traffic is flowing through the network. An example use case could be some security related function that removes unwanted or malicious traffic from the network based upon a known or provided IP blacklist.
