Customer Partnership
All companies are customer focused in one way or the other and at Accolade Technology we are no different. However, we believe our customer focus is more precisely described as a partnership.
Every Accolade customer engagement requires close cooperation or partnership to successfully integrate an Alveo or ANIC adapter into the customer’s hardware platform. In fact, we have never had an engagement without direct engineer to engineer cooperation to implement the desired solution.
Often, we even wind up developing some customer specific feature(s) that are typically realized based on extensive up-front conversations with our technical marketing and engineering teams to nail down exactly how an FPGA-based adapter can help solve our customer’s problems and pain points. For example, in one engagement we implemented a customer’s proprietary hash algorithm in our onboard FPGA and wound up saving nearly 80% of their host CPU cycles. For another customer we carved out space in our onboard FPGA so the customer could insert their own security related Verilog code. We offered to insert the code for them, but for security and intellectual property reasons they didn’t want to reveal the code to Accolade engineers. We respected this boundary and went out of our way to make some architectural changes to accommodate the customer request. This resulted in what we now call our “ANIC shell” which is a space within our design that makes it easy for customers to insert their own FPGA code into our packet processing pipeline.
