[New Product] ATLAS-1100 Service Node
This past week we launched the ATLAS-1100 Service Node (ASN). This product is a 1U, half-width appliance that can perform a variety of valued-added functions such as deduplication, flow shunting, header stripping and packet slicing. The functions are all courtesy of the FPGA-based intellectual property developed by Accolade Technology. These same features are available on the ANIC line of SmartNICs.
The ATLAS-1100 is designed primarily to augment the feature capability of a network packet broker. For example, it could be used to remove all duplicate packet traffic before the packet broker forwards traffic to various analytic tools. In this configuration it serves as a “one-armed” assistant to the packet broker in that traffic is forwarded to the ASN; deduplication function is performed; and the resultant traffic is sent back to the packet broker for further distribution.
The product can also be used in-line where it sits in the traffic path and performs functions as live traffic is flowing through the network. An example use case could be deep packet inspection (DPI) or some security related function that removes unwanted or malicious traffic from the network.
