The main products from Accolade Technology are FPGA-based adapters or SmartNICs that are plugged into a PCIe slot of a network appliance. However, in addition to the SmartNICs, Accolade also offers an integrated 1U platform called the ATLAS-1000. The platform is essentially an industry-standard server with an FPGA on the motherboard that performs host CPU offload functions such as lossless packet capture, nanosecond precision timestamping, packet merging, packet filtering, flow classification, packet steering and more.
The main advantages of the ATLAS-1000 are its small size (two can fit side-by-side in a 19-inch rack) and the integration of all Accolade host CPU offload capabilities. In addition, the platform has an x86 COM Express module which houses the host CPU and can be changed (during manufacturing) to accommodate the end-customer’s specific processor requirements. With respect to network interfaces either a 4 x 10GE or 2 x 40GE is available.
There are many potential use cases for the ATLAS-1000 in addition to the common use of Accolade adapters for network monitoring or cybersecurity. For example, as a netflow exporter, data de-duplicator, cluster load balancer or inline DPI. For more details on these uses case click here.
